Curly Girl's Guide: Travel
Posted on 25 April 2017
With summer right around the corner, we wanted to share with you ladies a few of our favourite travel tips. Flying While Curly does not have to be a burden! Reading through all of your #curlyhairproblems, you'd think it would be easier to travel with livestock! Thankfully our team is made up of curly girls who also happen to love exploring, so allow us to break it down for you. It's not as hard as it seems to get out there and see the world, curls and all.
1. Decant, Decant, Decant!
It will take a total of about two minutes but you will be SO grateful you did it throughout your trip. We never fly without our TSA-sized #DIY Curl Refresher (just some leave-in and water in a spray bottle) and another smaller jar of leave-in. The altitude and dryness can be harsh on your curls, so knowing you have the goods you already trust on hand is a major relief. No one really wants to be at the mercy of airport store products at airport store prices, amirite?!
2. In-Flight Service
If you're in it for the long haul, you'll want to ensure that you're going with a protective style. Similar to working out, we recommend a loosely tied high bun, pony or pineapple style. Headscarves work great too--whatever works best for YOU. For an added beauty bonus: keeping your hair up and out of your face while flying will vastly decrease the amount of germs coming into contact with your skin. Before landing, take down your hair, and using your *decanted* DIY Curl Refresher, mist your curls. If it's looking a tad too flat or frizzy, add some more straight up h2o and a pinch of leave-in, give it a scrunch and you're good to go.
3. Less Is More
How many curly girls do you know who claim not to be able to travel with only a carry-on just cause of the million bottles they require? Don't be that girl. Again, decant if you can, so that even in shower you have your choice products with you. Our All-In-One was created to save time, money and space--and it delivers. By minimizing the amount of product you'll have to bring with you, you can save yourself space to bring back treasures from your tour.
4. Pack Smart
We all know we should be using microfibre towels by now, right? Instead of bringing one along, use a t-shirt instead. You can also opt out of bringing your blow dryer, as most hotels and rentals already have one.
5. Business or Pleasure?
The beauty of traveling is being able to immerse yourself in a new culture, to let go and to enjoy yourself. Try not to let your curls get in the way of that! Even if it's just a short business trip, use your most trusted products and favorite styles. If you're on holiday, you might want to try a style that you normally wouldn't dare attempt at home! Have fun with it. Most important, remember to always Love Ur Curls, Love Ur Self ❤️
